On Mahashivratri, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar asked everyone to drop their worries and surrender fully to Lord Shiva. He said this sacred night is not for stress or fear, but for deep meditation and devotion. According to him, if you give your problems to Shiva and connect with the Shiv Tattva, life slowly becomes lighter, calmer, and blessed.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar reminded that there are twelve Shivratris in a year. But the one that falls in the month of Magh is called Mahashivratri. That is why it holds special power. At least on this one day, he said, keep worldly matters aside and turn inward.

Why Mahashivratri Is So Powerful

Mahashivratri is not just a festival. It is a night of awakening. Devotees believe this is the time when spiritual energy rises naturally. Temples across India stay open all night. People chant mantras, sing bhajans, and meditate together.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar described Shiva as Bholenath, the innocent and compassionate one. He said Shiva gives whatever is asked with a pure heart. When devotion is true, blessings flow easily. He also explained that Shiva is not separate from life. Shiva is everything. Without that divine energy, nothing moves.

Surrendering Problems to Shiva

Today many people live with tension. There is fear about the future. There is doubt, confusion, anxiety. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar spoke directly about this. He said Mahashivratri is the perfect day to hand over all these worries to Shiva.

Surrender does not mean giving up effort. It means releasing mental burden. When the mind rests, clarity comes. When you stop fighting inside, strength appears. That shift is powerful, though it sounds simple.

He encouraged people to worship Shiva with full heart. Offer water. Light a lamp. Sit quietly. Even listening to kirtan or chanting mantras can change the mood of the mind. Something soft opens inside, and that feels different.

Meditation Is the Real Key

Meditation, he stressed, is the most important practice on Mahashivratri. External rituals are meaningful, but inner silence matters more. Only through meditation can one experience the Shiv Tattva.

He explained that on this night, one should wake up from the material world and awaken the spiritual world within. That awakening is not dramatic. It is gentle. A small awareness that you are more than stress, more than fear.

Many devotees attend special meditation sessions organized by the Art of Living foundation. Across cities, halls are filled with chanting, silence, and celebration. The energy feels different, people say it every year.

Presence of Jyotirlingams Adds Significance

During the celebrations, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also spoke about the presence of Jyotirlingams. He mentioned that the main Jyotirlinga of Somnath was available during the event. Compared to last year, more Jyotirlingams were present this time.

Rudra abhishek was planned for the evening. Kirtan would continue through the night. Such rituals are believed to amplify spiritual vibrations. For devotees, this is not just ceremony. It feels like connection.

A Night of Prayer Across India

On Mahashivratri, temples across the country witness huge gatherings. Devotees fast during the day. Many stay awake the whole night. Bells ring, mantras echo, incense fills the air. It becomes a shared spiritual experience.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ended his message with a blessing. He prayed for the welfare of the world. He wished that everyone celebrates Shivratri with hope and faith.

In a time filled with noise and worry, his message felt simple yet deep. On this one night, pause. Breathe. Surrender your problems to Shiva. Maybe that is enough.
