Female software engineer commits suicide in Hyderabad

A female software engineer has come to light in Hyderabad. 25-year-old Devika committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house at Prashanti Hills in Raidurgam on the night of March 2.

After the incident, the mother of the deceased lodged an FIR against her son-in-law at Raidurgam police station. She said that son-in-law Satish used to harass Devika for dowry since marriage. Devika's mother said that her son-in-law pressured her daughter to transfer the house registered in her name to his name. He also harassed her for dowry.

Devika and Satish worked in the same software company. Both knew each other for 2 years. Both were married in Goa in August 2024.

After the initial investigation, a police officer said that on the night of March 2, heated arguments had exchanged between the husband and wife over the TV remote, after which the husband left the house. When he returned the next morning, he found his wife dead. After this, he informed the police and the family that his wife had hanged herself.

Raidurgam police have registered a case against husband Satish on charges of dowry harassment. Further investigation is underway.
