Train number 12551 Kamakhya Express going from Bengaluru to Guwahati has met with an accident. After leaving Cuttack station, Kamakhya Express crashed near Mangoli station and its 11 coaches derailed. According to the information, bogies from B9 to B14 of the train have derailed. Many people are reported to be injured in this accident. Some people injured in the accident have been sent to the hospital by ambulance.
According to the information received from the railway, this incident took place near Khurda division. According to the information received so far, one person was killed and eight others were injured in the incident. At present, senior railway officials have reached the spot. Relief work is going on. Railway officials have informed that after the accident, all the passengers have been evacuated safely and the process of taking them to their destination under alternative arrangements is going on.
However, due to the derailment of the coaches, people traveling in the train will now have to face a lot of trouble. The railways will make arrangements for their further travel, but it is certain that now all the passengers will not be able to reach their designated railway station on time.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted on this and said that he is aware of the matter and his government is continuously running relief work there in collaboration with the railways.
Trains going on this route have also been stopped for the time being and they are being diverted to another route. It may take time for the railways to open this route. Due to this many trains may be late.
Chief Public Relations Officer of East Coast Railway Ashok Kumar Mishra said that 11 coaches of SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed at Nirgundi near Manguli at 11:54 am. He said that there is no news of any casualties so far. Mishra said, "We have started relief work and have informed NDRF (Central Disaster Response Force) and fire services. A relief train has been sent to the spot.
