The UGC issue has once again sparked tension in Uttar Pradesh. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma faced heavy slogan shouting during a public event in Lucknow. People demanded answers on the new UGC provisions. The protest grew loud enough that he had to stop his speech midway.

The matter now looks political and emotional at the same time.

What Happened In Lucknow

The incident took place at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow during a gathering of the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Mahasabha. As soon as Dinesh Sharma began speaking, people started asking him to clarify the party’s stand on the new UGC rules.

Slogans echoed inside the hall. The noise increased. He could not continue. In between protests, he raised the slogan Bharat Mata Ki Jai and returned to his seat.

The atmosphere felt charged. Not normal political disagreement. It looked deeper.

Why UGC Rules Are Being Opposed

Several leaders present said the new UGC provisions are hurting the general category and upper caste communities. The anger seems focused on what many describe as unfair academic guidelines.

Suspended PCS officer Alankar Agnihotri openly criticized the rules. He claimed that both central and state governments are ignoring Brahmin concerns. According to him, these rules could increase caste division instead of reducing it.

The crowd responded strongly to his words. Some on stage disagreed. But people sitting below supported him loudly.

Political Leaders Present

The event saw leaders from different parties. Brajesh Pathak assured that the government stands with the Brahmin community. However, he did not directly speak on the UGC rule changes.

Former Governor Kalraj Mishra said government decisions are usually taken after careful thought. He suggested opposing without full details may not be right.

Congress leaders like Ajay Rai and Avinash Pandey were also present. The gathering crossed party lines, which made the debate more intense.

Resignation Adds More Pressure

In Moradabad, BJP district vice president Dr. Vishwas Sharma resigned from his post. He said the party’s stand on UGC is not in public interest. He mentioned that caste-based politics is increasing and this is worrying.

His resignation letter was sent to party officials. Local BJP leadership, however, downplayed the move, saying new executive formation is already due.

Still, resignations send signals. They show discomfort inside the party too.

Shankaracharya Issue Also Raised

The Shankaracharya controversy was also discussed. Rajendra Nath Tripathi, national president of the Brahmin Mahasabha, expressed anger over remarks made against Swami Avimukteshwaranand. He said such incidents are unfortunate under a government that calls itself Hindu-friendly.

This added more emotion to the gathering.

What Happens Next

The UGC issue in Uttar Pradesh is clearly not settled. Protests, resignations, and public confrontations show that the matter has political weight.

Whether the government clarifies its stand or not will shape the next move. People are asking questions. Leaders are being pushed to respond.

Right now, one thing is clear. The UGC debate is no longer just about education policy. It has become about identity, representation, and political trust. And that makes it serious.
