An encounter took place between security personnel and Naxalites in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday morning. So far 17 Naxalites have been killed in the encounter. A large quantity of weapons including INSAS and SLR have been recovered. The number of Naxalites killed may increase. So far 410 Naxalites have been killed within a year.

Weapons cannot bring change: Amit Shah

After the killing of 17 Naxalites, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that those who have weapons and resort to violence cannot bring change, only peace and development can bring.

While writing on X, he said "another blow to Naxalism! Our security agencies killed 17 Naxalites in an operation in Sukma and recovered a large cache of automatic weapons. The Home Minister said that the government under the leadership of the Prime Minister is committed to end Naxalism before March 31, 2026. My appeal to those who have weapons is that weapons and violence cannot bring change, only peace and development can bring".

Bastar IG confirms killing of 17 Naxalites

Bastar IG Sundarraj P, while giving an update said that the bodies of 17 Naxalites have been recovered. Two soldiers have suffered minor injuries. It is reported that DVCM Jagdish has been killed in this encounter.

Sukma SP Kiran Gangaram Chavan said that we have recovered the bodies of 17 Naxalites so far. A large number of AK-47, SLR, INSAS rifles and other weapons and ammunition have also been recovered. Two soldiers have suffered minor injuries.

According to the information received, an officer said that the encounter took place in a forest under Keralapal police station area. The encounter took place when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal operation.

He further said that the operation started on Friday night based on information about the presence of Maoists in Keralapal area. District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel are involved in the operation.

Two soldiers injured, admitted to hospital

According to information received from Sukma police, on March 28, a joint police party of District Sukma DRG and CRPF left for anti-Naxal search operation after receiving information about the presence of Maoists in Keralapal police station area of ​​​​Sukma district. During the operation, intermittent encounters are going on between security forces and Maoists this morning. Intensive search is going on by the security forces at the encounter site and the surrounding areas. The soldiers have surrounded the Naxalites from all sides. There is news of DVCM cadre Naxal Jagdish also being killed in the encounter. Recently, Naxal Sudhakar, a Naxalite with a reward of Rs 25 lakh, was also killed. Two soldiers have been injured in the encounter, who have been brought to the local hospital of Sukma.

Former collector was held hostage in Keralapal

Keralapal is the same area where Naxalites held former collector Alex Paul Menon hostage. Negotiations had to be held with the Naxalites to release him.

A huge cache of weapons recovered from the spot

The soldiers recovered more than 10 AK-47, INSAS rifles, SLR and other automatic weapons from the encounter site. This makes it clear that the big leaders of the Naxalites had gathered there. In such a situation, there is news of other big Naxalites being killed as well. Currently, it is autumn season. At such a time, searching in the Naxal area is a very difficult task for the soldiers. Because due to autumn, the Naxalites get information about the arrival of the soldiers. The sound of soldiers walking on the leaves makes the Naxalites aware of it. Due to which the Naxalites get a hint.
