The FASTag annual pass fee will increase slightly from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075 for the financial year 2026–27. The new price will start from April 1, 2026. The National Highways Authority of India announced the change as part of its regular toll fee revision rules. Even after the price update, the pass will continue offering convenient highway travel for frequent commuters across India.

For people who travel often on national highways, this small change may not affect much. The benefits still remain the same.

What Exactly Is The FASTag Annual Pass

The FASTag annual pass is a one-time payment option designed mainly for private vehicle owners. Instead of paying toll repeatedly at different plazas, drivers can simply buy the yearly pass.

Once purchased, the pass allows the vehicle to cross toll plazas multiple times without separate payments each time.

There is a limit though. The pass stays valid for one year or for up to 200 toll crossings, whichever happens first.

For people who regularly travel between cities, this system saves time and reduces the need for frequent FASTag recharges.

Who Can Use This Toll Pass

The pass is available only for non-commercial vehicles. That means private cars, jeeps and similar vehicles can use it.

The vehicle must also have an active FASTag linked to it.

When the annual pass is purchased, it automatically gets connected to the existing FASTag of the vehicle. Drivers don’t need a new tag or any extra device.

This simple setup is one of the reasons why many people prefer the annual pass.

Where The Pass Can Be Used

The FASTag annual pass works across a large network of toll plazas in India.

According to NHAI, it can be used at around 1,150 fee plazas located on national highways and expressways across the country.

So whether someone is travelling for work, family visits, or regular commuting between nearby cities, the pass helps reduce small repeated toll payments.

Over time that makes travel smoother.

How To Buy Or Renew The Pass

Buying the pass is fairly simple. Users can purchase or renew it online.

The payment can be made through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application or the official website of the National Highways Authority of India.

After the payment is completed, the annual pass usually gets activated within about two hours.

The activation happens directly on the FASTag linked to the vehicle.

Drivers do not need to visit a toll office or service centre for this.

Why Millions Of Drivers Prefer It

Since its launch on August 15, 2025, the FASTag annual pass has become quite popular among highway users.

More than 56 lakh people are already using the facility.

The main reason is convenience. People who travel frequently on highways do not like stopping for payments or checking their FASTag balance again and again.

The yearly pass removes that small but constant worry.

Travel feels smoother. Less thinking about toll charges.

A Small Price Change, But Same Convenience

The increase from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075 is quite small. For frequent highway travellers, the difference is hardly noticeable.

What matters more is the convenience it provides.

India’s highway network is expanding rapidly, and systems like FASTag are making road travel faster and simpler.

For regular commuters, the annual pass quietly becomes one of those things that just makes long drives a little easier.
