NCP Merger Talks Gain Pace After Ajit Pawar Aide’s Claim (PC- Social Media)
Talks of a merger between the two NCP factions have gained serious attention after a close aide of Ajit Pawar said the process was almost done. According to him, Ajit Pawar wanted unity and had already completed internal steps. Discussions with Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule were active and positive.
This statement has reopened political debate across Maharashtra. Many now believe a reunion is not just possible but necessary.
What Ajit Pawar Wanted
Kiran Gujar, Ajit Pawar’s aide of nearly forty years, said Ajit was fully committed to merging both factions. He shared that Ajit spoke to him just days before his tragic death. Ajit reportedly said the entire process was complete and only the final steps were left.
During recent civic elections, Ajit Pawar had also hinted at unity. He believed a merger should happen while Sharad Pawar was still active and healthy. For him, timing mattered.
Talks With Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule
According to Gujar, talks were ongoing with Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule. He described them as positive and constructive. There was a clear roadmap, not confusion.
Both factions had already tested unity on the ground. They contested civic polls together in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. They also decided to continue this alliance for upcoming zilla parishad and gram panchayat elections under the clock symbol.
This cooperation has made merger talks feel more real.
Why the Merger Matters Now
After Ajit Pawar’s death, emotions are high. Supporters feel unity is the right tribute to his legacy. Gujar said coming together is now even more important for Baramati and for Maharashtra.
A united NCP could regain strength. It could reduce internal fights and bring clarity to workers who feel stuck between factions.
Many leaders believe delay may weaken the party further.
Succession Talk Adds Another Layer
After Ajit Pawar’s funeral, supporters demanded a bigger role for Sunetra Pawar. Some leaders openly said she should be included in the ministry. A few even suggested she could become Deputy Chief Minister.
They believe this would honour Ajit Pawar’s work and keep his influence alive. However, no final decision has been announced yet.
What Lies Ahead for NCP
Formal merger talks are expected after ongoing local elections. That seems to be the agreed pause point.
If unity happens, it could reshape Maharashtra politics. If delayed, uncertainty may grow.
For now, all eyes are on Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, and the party leadership. The next few weeks may decide whether NCP walks together again or stays divided longer.
