North India faces severe cold wave, dense fog in 12 cities, and rainfall in 3 states. IMD issues fresh alerts as temperatures dip sharply across multiple regions.

Today Weather Forecast: As of 7 December 2025, a major dense-fog warning has been issued for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and several other northern cities, triggering a sharp drop in temperature and prompting authorities to advise extreme caution.
Across many northern states, the cold wave continues to intensify, while three states are under a fresh rainfall alert today. At the same time, 12 key cities are facing a ‘mega alert’ for severe fog, significantly reducing visibility and affecting daily life.
In several regions, the maximum temperature may dip below 15°C, while the minimum temperature could fall below 5°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued concerning alerts for the hill states.
Rainfall Alert for These States Today
According to available reports, while large parts of northern India are shivering under an intense cold wave, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh are likely to experience rainfall today.
Although the rainfall is not expected to be very heavy, coastal areas may face increased difficulties due to moisture-loaded winds and weather disturbances.
Cold to Intensify in Uttar Pradesh Today
Starting Sunday, 7 December 2025, dense fog is expected to grip several regions of Uttar Pradesh. Cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Barabanki, Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar and Gautam Buddha Nagar will witness thick fog during early morning hours. Winds at 15–20 kmph will add to the chill.
‘Mega Alert’—Dense Fog in 12 Major Cities
According to IMD’s latest update, these 12 major cities are under a severe fog alert today:
- Kanpur
- Lucknow
- Shimla
- Nainital
- Jaipur
- Bhopal
- Patna
- Bhagalpur
- Kolkata
- Kota
- Delhi
- Manali
The hill states, in particular, have been advised to remain highly vigilant. Manali and Shimla may experience intense snowfall, worsening visibility and road conditions.
Delhi Weather Today
Delhi is set to witness a stronger cold wave from 7 December 2025, with temperatures expected to fall sharply. Dense fog in the morning may create significant problems for commuters.
Today, Delhi’s maximum temperature is expected to be around 25°C, while the minimum temperature may drop to 8°C.
Bihar Weather Outlook for Tomorrow
IMD reports indicate that Bihar may see a drop of 3–4°C in maximum temperatures starting next week. Minimum temperatures may also slide below 8°C.
Dense fog is expected in Patna, Bhojpur, Gopalganj, Buxar, East Champaran, West Champaran, Samastipur and Darbhanga. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during early morning hours.
