Every year rains are a disaster in Maharashtra. This season too, heavy rains are being witnessed in many areas of the state. The continuous rains in Mumbai since last night have increased the troubles of the people. Due to continuous rains, the Shilphata road in Dombivali Kalyan area is flooded. Due to which it has become difficult for people to pass through here and vehicles have also got stuck.

At the same time, due to heavy rains in Pune, the housing society on the river bank has been flooded. People of the fire department are engaged in evacuating people. At some places, the condition is so bad that the water has reached the waist. Ekta Nagar in Pune is flooded. Baba Bhide bridge in Pune has been submerged in water, so citizens have been warned to be cautious. Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, schools have been closed at many places.

Rainwater has entered about 15 housing societies in Pune. Three people died due to electric shock. More than 100 mm of rain was recorded at four different places in Pune city. The administration has declared a holiday for schools in Pune Pimpri Chinchwad city. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy rain in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad on Thursday. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, orange alert for Thane Palghar and orange alert for Raigad on Thursday. An offshore trough will become fully active from Karnataka to Gujarat, due to which there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain in many areas including Mumbai.

Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Palghar, Maharashtra on Thursday. For which an orange alert has been issued. Orange alert has also been issued for Thane. Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast in Mumbai today, for which a yellow alert has been issued. Apart from this, an orange alert has been issued in Raigad and Ratnagiri, predicting very heavy rains.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday had advised people not to leave their homes unless it was very necessary, with the forecast of extremely heavy rains in various places of Nagpur and districts of Vidarbha region. Due to the rains in the past few days, low-lying areas of many cities including Mumbai, Nagpur in Maharashtra were submerged and life was affected there. During this time people had to be taken to safer places.

Due to heavy rains, roads were submerged in many areas, flights had to be diverted and local train services were also affected.

Many places in Mumbai had recorded more than 200 mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday, due to which local train services were disrupted for a while. Officials said that amid the forecast of heavy rains and high waves in the sea in Mumbai and its suburbs, three teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to deal with any situation in the city.

The Western Railway said local train services were running normally on Monday morning. The Central Railway also said local train services were normal on all four corridors. A BMC official said Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses were not diverted. A day earlier, heavy rains in Mumbai and suburbs led to waterlogging in many areas, flight diversions and local train services between Dadar and Matunga stations being briefly affected.
