Weather Today (PC- Social Media)
Uttar Pradesh is seeing a clear shift in the weather today, January 30, 2026. As per IMD, rainfall has stopped across the state, cold has increased, and dense fog is now the biggest concern. Temperatures have dropped sharply, mornings are colder, and visibility remains very poor in many districts.
Overall Weather Situation in Uttar Pradesh
According to the India Meteorological Department, the influence of the previous Western Disturbance has moved away. Because of this, Uttar Pradesh is mostly dry today. The sky is clearer during daytime hours, but cold air has settled in. This change has caused a noticeable fall in night temperatures across almost all regions.
The state is under winter-like conditions again. Days feel slightly pleasant under the sunshine, but mornings and nights are biting cold. Fog continues to dominate highways, railway routes, and open fields.
Temperature Drop Across the State
Minimum temperatures across Uttar Pradesh have dropped by around 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. Many cities woke up to very cold mornings. In several districts, minimum temperatures are now between 7°C and 11°C. Western Uttar Pradesh is colder compared to eastern parts, though fog is thicker in the east.
Daytime temperatures remain stable. Maximum temperatures mostly stay between 19°C and 25°C, depending on the zone. Sunlight during noon offers some relief, but it does not last long.
Dense Fog Alert Issued by IMD
IMD Lucknow has issued a Yellow Alert for dense to very dense fog across all districts of Uttar Pradesh today. Fog is expected mainly during early morning and late night hours. In some areas, visibility may drop below 50 metres, making travel risky.
Districts like Bareilly, Bahraich, Gorakhpur, and Pilibhit are especially vulnerable. Road users are advised to drive slowly and avoid early morning travel if possible. Train delays are also likely in fog-prone zones.
Weather in Western Uttar Pradesh
Western districts, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Agra, and nearby areas, are seeing very dense fog. Early mornings remain cold with low visibility. Minimum temperatures hover between 7°C and 9°C, while maximum temperatures stay around 19°C to 20°C.
The day remains dry with clear skies after the fog lifts. A light breeze may be felt in the afternoon. By late night, clouds may start forming as a fresh weather system approaches northwest India.
Weather in Central Uttar Pradesh
Central Uttar Pradesh, covering Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya, and nearby districts, is under dense fog alert. Mornings are cold and hazy. As the sun rises, fog slowly clears and allows bright sunshine during the afternoon.
Minimum temperatures remain around 9°C to 12°C, while maximum temperatures can touch 22°C or 23°C. The weather stays dry today. IMD suggests light rain chances may appear over the weekend due to an incoming Western Disturbance.
Weather in Eastern Uttar Pradesh
Eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Ghazipur, is facing very dense fog in isolated pockets. Morning visibility is poor, especially near rivers and open fields. Cool north-western winds blow at speeds of 5 to 8 kmph.
Temperatures here are slightly higher. Minimum temperatures range from 10°C to 12°C, while daytime temperatures reach 22°C to 25°C. The sky remains mostly clear after fog disperses, and no rain is predicted today.
Bundelkhand and Terai Region Conditions
Bundelkhand areas, such as Jhansi, are relatively warmer compared to other regions. Daytime temperatures can rise up to 26°C, while nights stay cool. The weather remains dry and calm.
The Terai bel,t including Bahraich and Pilibhit,it is dealing with very high humidity, reaching up to 95 percent. This has caused persistent mist and thick fog during mornings. Fields and low-lying areas remain covered in haze for longer hours.
City-Wise Weather Snapshot
Lucknow is experiencing morning clouds followed by sunshine. The maximum temperature is around 22°C and minimum near 9°C. Noida and Ghaziabad remain cold with foggy mornings, with a minimum of around 7°C to 8°C. Varanasi enjoys strong sunshine after fog clears, with temperatures near 22°C during the day. Gorakhpur sees cloudy skies and fog, with minimum temperatures close to 11°C.
Fresh Western Disturbance Update
IMD has confirmed that a new Western Disturbance will start affecting northwest India from late tonight. Its impact on Uttar Pradesh is expected from January 31 or February 1. This system may bring light rain and thunderstorms to parts of the state, especially western and central regions.
Cloud cover is likely to increase during night hours today. Temperatures may not drop further once clouds arrive, but fog conditions could worsen before rain begins.
Travel and Safety Advisory
With fog continuing to remain dense, travellers should remain cautious. Visibility can suddenly drop, especially on highways and near water bodies. Checking district-wise IMD updates before travel is strongly advised.
Drivers should use fog lights properly and avoid high speeds. Farmers and morning walkers should also be careful, as cold stress remains high during early hours.
What to Expect Next
January 30 marks a transition day for Uttar Pradesh weather. Rain has paused, cold has returned strongly, and fog dominates most regions. The coming days may bring cloudiness and light rainfall, offering temporary relief from fog but increasing chill.
For now, dry days, cold mornings, and dense fog define Uttar Pradesh’s weather today. Staying updated with IMD alerts remains important as conditions can change quickly during winter.
