In an unusually public appeal, the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas has urged Iran to avoid attacking neighbouring countries.

In its statement, Hamas struck a delicate balance: supporting Iran’s right to respond militarily while warning against strikes that could drag neighbouring states into the war. The group said, “While affirming the right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to respond to this aggression by all available means in accordance with international norms and laws, the movement calls on the brothers in Iran to avoid targeting neighbouring countries.”

The message is notable because Hamas has been helped by Iran for financial aid, weapons, training, and political backing, making public criticism or caution extremely rare.

In its appeal, Hamas also urged the international community to intervene. The group called on global powers to work towards halting the ongoing war immediately.

Shortly after the killing of Ali Khamenei, Hamas condemned the attack as a heinous crime, openly acknowledging the Iranian leader’s decades-long support for the Palestinian cause. The group praised him as a central backer of what it calls the resistance axis, saying he had provided political support, diplomatic backing and military assistance to Palestinian fighters confronting Israel.

Behind the Scenes Diplomacy

A senior Hamas official, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the movement has been in direct contact with Iranian officials as tensions continue to rise. According to the official, Hamas believes Israel is attempting to fracture relations between Iran and the Arab world. Hamas leaders have also reportedly launched urgent diplomatic outreach to regional governments, including Qatar, Turkey and Iraq.

The group is urging these states to pressure Washington and Israel to halt what it described as “American and Zionist aggression” against Iran.Hamas Unusual Warning to Iran: Don’t Attack Neighbours
